Digital Curation + Ed Camp

“We live in an age of stuff and more stuff”. I liked the website shared in the resources about “Cultivating the Brainforest”. Having researchers, teachers, friends, and ourselves, curate and gather resources that won’t make us overwhelmed is key for me. Math this term was a highlight because, Tim, our math teacher, did a fantastic job at presenting his curated digital material and resources. It made learning Math easy, accessible, and fun. Looking for Math resources was made easy and rapidly accessible. Usually, I can get lost on the internet trying to find a piece of information and wondering if it’s an adequate one or not. I like the “Sense” in the triple S (Seek, Sense, and Share). I personally use Google docs, and Apple notes to keep and save resources I find helpful.

The Ed Camp was a highlight because I got to learn a bunch, through meaningful conversations, about 3 main topics: Integrating Indigenous content and knowledge into our classrooms, The communication with parents, and Scratch. Hans’s presentation on scratch was eye-opening and I am very thankful for that. He made it seem like such a fun program to play around with.

I learned that it is important to think about not defending our teaching in case a parent is concerned. Rather, ask the question: “why are you concerned”
